Sacred Heart Update: March 30, 2012

Parents and Sacred Heart family,

The regular season is now underway and we have a full slate of games scheduled for this week.  There’s a lot going on right now, but here are a few quick items to note:

OPENING CEREMONIES POSTPONED TO SAT APRIL 14, AT NOON (Games for 3/31 still being played):

Tomorrow’s ceremonies at the CYO Complex have been rescheduled to Sat. April 14, beginning at 12 noon.  Teams scheduled to play at the 8 am or 12 noon times at the CYO Complex on that day are welcome to participate in the on-field activities. All other teams (players, coaches, and parents) are welcome to come out and show their support right from the get go;, too, however, we ask that you stay on the outside of the field (it’s tough to squeeze 800 players on one field!)

Games for Saturday March 31 … schedule remains as it previously showed for games at Noon, 2 and 4 pm tomorrow.  At this time, the 8 am games are being rescheduled as follows:

-All 8 am games at CYO will move to 6 pm at CYO: (Majors Iron Pigs-Bats, Minors9 Cardinals-Tigers, Instr White Sox-Cubs, and 10u SB DBacks-Orioles)
-Westampton 8 am Majors Lugnuts-Grasshoppers is moved to 4 pm, at Westampton
-Westampton 8 am Minors 10 Red Sox-Phillies is moved to 5 pm (at Westampton)

EASTER BREAK

In cooperation with the Parish, our league takes a break on Holy Thursday (Apr 5), Good Friday (Apr 6), Holy Saturday - no games beginning after noon (Apr 7), and, of course, Easter Sunday.  We haven’t scheduled any games for these days, and teams are NOT to hold practices on these days.   Enjoy this time off, and we’ll get back out there the day after Easter with a full schedule (sorry if this conflicts in any with your Spring Break plans, but we have a limited number of playable days in the season!)

PICTURE DAY

Our picture day is Saturday April 14 at Sacred Heart gym.  The schedule will be posted very soon.

SCHEDULE CONFLICTS WITH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION (CCD)

Please do not miss or leave early from your religious education classes for either a game or team practice. Coaches should be aware that this situation exists in our league and are to plan accordingly, without any penalty for players coming late to a practice or game as a result of going to class.  Late arriving players will be added to the batting order without any problem.  Parents: please do your part by letting the coach know if you will be late so that they can factor this into their plans.  We’ve scheduled our games to avoid these conflicts to the best extent possible, but realize that absences will occur at times.  It’s a situation that we’ve discussed with the Parish, and we’re comfortable that our approach is workable to all parties. Thanks for your cooperation on this matter.

TEAM SCHEDULES POSTED AT WEBSITE

Schedules by division, and by team, are now posted at our league website for the whole season.  Further information about specific snack bar assignment dates will be passed along next week.

GAME CANCELLATIONS

We usually wait right up until the last minute to officially pull the plug on a day’s games.  With a pretty full schedule featuring a minimum number of dates for makeup games, we try to play the games as planned unless there’s a downpour that makes the fields unplayable.  When we do postpone games, we’ll typically send out an email blast to the whole league and update the homepage at our league’s website.
