TOURNAMENT TEAM TRYOUTS: SATURDAY APRIL 17
Sacred Heart participates in the Ripken / Babe Ruth Program tournaments each year, and we're looking forward to the 2010 tournament season. Our tournament teams are selected through an open tryout process, which will be conducted Saturday April 17 for the Baseball Divisions covering ages 8 through 12, as well as for the 8U and 10U Softball teams, 12U Softball will be held at a later date (tryouts for a 7 yr old baseball tournament team will be held during May)..
Tryouts will be held at the following times on Saturday April 17:
-8 yr olds' Baseball: 4 pm (Westampton Softball field)
-9 yr olds' Baseball: 5 pm (CYO Minors field)
-10 yr olds' Baseball: 3 pm (CYO Majors field)
-11 yr olds' Baseball: 3 pm (Westampton Complex Flex field)

With the season set to begin in just a few days, we'll touch on a lot of items relating to actual play on the field.
The meeting will start with a quick overview of the expectations / responsibilites for the "team mom/dad" role, including snack bar protocol, etc.
Coaches should plan to attend as we'll also do a review of the on-field rules to be used during the 2010 season.
And...we'll go over a lot of other interesting things, too.

The annual Field Clean-Up Day will be held on on March 20, 2010. The rain date will be March 21, 2010. Assignments will be communicated to the Coaches prior to the event.

Head coaches in Sacred Heart Rec Softball are expected to attend; participation by assistant coaches is encouraged. This clinic will demonstrate many different drills and activities to utilize during practices, as well as discuss proper techniques when it comes to softball. It will contain Handouts, as well as live demonstration so the coaches can see how to properly run the drills. The guys that are running it are extremely knowledgeable as well as very successful competing in tournaments all over the country.

In your email message, please note somewhere that you are a coach at Sacred Heart CYO, and that you are planning to attend the VIRTUS session to be held on (provide date).
VIRTUS sessions are held at other parishes as well...if you complete a session elsewhere (there are a limited number available), please provide your "certificate" to Sacred Heart parish (Merry) at the email address noted above. Also, there may be additional sessions added as we get closer to the 2010 season.

If you completed the program in a prior year, you need not attend one of these sessions (provided you maintain your documentation from prior attendance).

Team and individual pictures will be taken on Saturday, April 19 in the gymnasium at the Sacred Heart Parish School, at 260 High Street in Mt. Holly. Order forms have been distributed to each team and each player should receive one soon. Please be sure to arrive in advance of your team's scheduled timeslot, as there is only a short time allotted for each team and the schedule is also coordinated with the ballgames scheduled for the day.
